About OuiSH
Message from the Director

Director NAKATA Ken
Based on the OU Master Plan 2027, Osaka University has established a new “Osaka University Institute for Sports and Global Health (OuiSH)”, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, starting from this fiscal year, Reiwa 6 (2024). To promote new activities in the fields of education, research, and social contribution related to “health,” “sports medical science,” and “global health” based on data, researchers within the university have come together beyond traditional departmental boundaries. In the era of 100-year lifespans, we have created a “place” and “core” where people can continue to learn about “health” throughout their lives through physical activity and sports, transcending time and space, and contributing to global well-being. Through this new organization, Osaka University will advance research, human resource development, and social activities in collaboration with many stakeholders, including the integration and cooperation of humanities and sciences within the university, as well as with government agencies, local governments, companies, and sports organizations, to create global health, solve health risk issues, and enhance the value of sports.
Organization
Three divisions have been established at the Osaka University Institute for Sports and Global Health (OuiSH). The “Division of Global Strategy Promotion [General Affairs]” aggregates and utilizes information related to the health and safety of all university members and globally disseminates the results. The “Division of Health Sports Literacy [Education]” aims to realize education backed by research, providing personalized advanced literacy education through digital transformation (DX). The “Health Sports Science Division [Research]” creates interdisciplinary integrated knowledge of health sports science and promotes the project “Construction of Health-Physical Activity Digital Twin.
These three divisions work closely together to advance sports DX and health DX. They collaborate with Osaka University’s ICT research organizations, such as Osaka University Institute for Datability Science, Cybermedia Center, Center for Infectious Disease Education and Research (CiDER), and Premium Research Institute for Human Metaverse Medicine (PRIMe), to promote and utilize the related project “Construction of Health-Physical Activity Digital Twin.”
